Results of Article Questionnaire

These are the three examples of articles from Q, NME and Kerrang! that I gave my target audience to pick from. It was a unanimous decision with all 20 people I asked choosing the Kerrang! article and so this is the style and layout I will model my article on. A few however commented on how they thought the 'Need To Know' section on the NME article was interesting and so I will use this as well on my article.

Article Research

Before I begin to construct my article for my magazine I need to decide on a layout. I have printed out 3 different styles of articles from Kerrang!, NME and Q and will ask 20 people which they prefer and which would be best suited to my front cover and contents page. From then I can build a layout for my article and begin piecing it together.

Features

Here is a list of the features I chose to include on my contents page:
04 LANA DEL REY - Born To Die: Behind The Scenes
09 CONNOR PENSON - Life On The Road
17 DEMI LOVATO - Breakdown, Rehab And Unbroken
21 SNAPSHOTS - The Fans And Their Idols
37 TOM FURNISS - The King Of Drum & Bass

Contents Page Progress

I forgot to upload this image on Wednesday but this is my contents page so far. The second image on the page is of me and Zach Phelps (solo artist). I decided to use this picture and create a feature on 'Fans With Their Idols' to make my magazine more fan orientated. The image also contrasts the other two on the page because its more casual and wasn't set up as a photoshoot.

Artist Index

Here is a screenshot of the Artist Index section of my contents page.

Artist Index

I am currently creating an Artist Index for the left hand side of my contents page - similar to NME.
Here is the A-Z of artists that will be included:

Adele
Amy Winehouse
Ben Francis
Beyonce
Carole King
Charlie Simpson
Damien Rice
Demi Lovato
Ed Sheeran
Etta James
Florence Welch
Grace Hill
Gotye
Jessie J
John Mayer
Kate Nash
Kelly Clarkson
Lady Gaga
Lil Wayne
Madonna
M.I.A
Nina Simone
Noel Gallagher
Paolo Nutini
Prince
Rihanna
Robin Thicke
Sam Cooke
Sia
Taylor Swift
Whitney Houston

As you can see, these artists vary in genre and this is because one of the main things I wanted my magazine to do, was to be a range of different styles of music to create a wider audience interest.
Currently, the list does not take up the full side of the page as I was hoping. I will either make the text bigger to fill the gap, or I will add extra names to the list.
